Hi everyone, I have just bought a small block of land with an aquaculture set up and licence. It all looks pretty run down, but I think it can be salvaged. I have always been interested growing fish and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction please. Currently the place has been growing goldfish and some petshop varieties, but I would like to get into table fish as well.

Where's Boreen Point?

Might have some trouble mate if the old farm was using the farm dams.

Fisheries are getting pretty anti, unless they are purpose built.

If they are like part of natural waterway collection, you might find they wont license you for anything

Hi Frank, theres a couple of dams, and a fair few tanks with bio sytem swirl filters/pumps,compressors etc.The license comes with the property, and previously it was a going concern.
I live at Boreen Point which is on sunshine coast Qld near Noosa, but the farm is at Gympie. so it's Not affecting any natural waterways, Cheers Porgut

Interesting stuff Porgut,
There is a very good hatchery at Boreen Point run by a very nice knowledgeable lady. She has Silver perch fingerlings and all kinds of interesting things there. She is copping a fair bit of stick from the local council, it looks like they want her land.

Yes she is very nice, I spoke to her on the phone today, she was quite helpful. She reckons I should try and get out and about and see somebody with an working system, and have a chat. I'll definetley be getting a few perch from her when I get my system and my know how up to scratch.

You are welcome to come and look at my system. Bit of a drive from Gympie, but you will enjoy seeing a working system.

Thanks Muzza, I might take you up on that, that is what I need to get my act together. I'll try and get down that way in the next few weeks, so I'll give you a yell, if thats ok. This is a good group, thanks porgut
