Deleted Ocean Offspring from the list. There's over 100 on the list and I'm sure many are no longer in business.

I wrote to Aqua Blue to find out about costs/postage etc for a mixed tank and they advise that Golden Perch do not fare well in closed systems as they prefer live food...
Can anyone advise if they have differing opinions to the hatchery and if so please elaborate.
Does anyone have a successful grow of Goldens?
Regards.

I talked to some people at an aquafarm about golden's on pellets and they laughed at the idea. Some will eat pellets if they have no choice but to grow them out is a problem. I think if you want to go that route them look into BSF to help supplement there diet. I want to have a few cod later so I'm looking into BSF and I will have bait yabbies soon so there will be a lot of live food around. But cod love to eat fish, so I'm on the lookout for fast breading fish as a food source.

Hi,
Ausyfish have a strain of Golden perch that take to pellets better than some others apparently.

Yeah that was the ones I was talking about. Maybe never giving them any live food helps, they don't know what they are missing.:)

I have some AusyFish "Golden Perch" Out of 100 I guess that I may have 60 that are now on pellets. They are not growing as fast as the Jades, but I will be very happy if I get a half dozen or so through to plate size.

Just a update on these fellows. Due to NO water allocation, they have only enough water to maintain breeding stocks and not enough for production, so for this summer at least - no fingerlings for sale.
The Wimmera region (around the Grampians) is about at 6% capacity in the dams. Really bleak up home at the moment on the farm.

Ausyfish will send fingerlings to Victoria. We have a client in Melb who has just purchased his second kit and he obtained 100 Silvers (the last ones from last season) from Ausyfish.
Ausyfish will have new season fingerlings soon.
For Victorians I would recommend you try Silvers for a start..... and Jades are really good if you are prepared to heat your tank.
And come March I reckon any Victorian would be wise to draw on the experience of FF and go for Trout.

Those crazy Victorians....they don't know what they are missing. Maybe someone needs to do a bit of fish smuggling ;)....A midnight run over the border....
