I'm getting some goldfish tomorrow for my little system and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for what type would be the best suited in terms of heartiness and poop production. I noticed at the pet store las week that some grow to 12 inches and others grow to 6 inches. I think I will go with one of the type that only grow to 6 inches because of the size of my tank. Any advice appreciated.

Matt,
I'd just go with the standard cheapo feeder goldfish. They'll work out just fine for you. If you want more color, you could go with the "fancy" goldfish for a little more money (sarasa comets). For the most part, goldfish are goldfish when it comes to growth potential. They all can reach 12 inches + if given plenty of room and quality food. If you wanted something that definitely wouldn't grow very large you could try golden shiners (cheap at a bait shop) or fathead minnows (also cheap at a bait shop). Some various sunfish selections would fit the bill nicely as well.

Thanks Kellen. I got some nice looking ones that aren't supposed to get more than 6 inches long. They are sarasa something but not comets. Anyway, thanks for the info. It was helpful.
