Hi,

The most recent issue of Practical Hydroponics and Greenhouses features an article on a little rabbit farm in Tasmania. While I'm interested in farmed rabbits, what really caught my eye was the tidy little hydroponic fodder set up that the rabbit farmer uses to produce fodder for his stock.

You can read the full article......and see the hydro fodder set up......here (http://hydroponics.com.au/php/viewtopic.php?t=510).

Anyone tried anything like this before?

Gary

Thanks alot for the link this is perfect. I want to setup a fodder system because I also plan on raising rabbits for meat along with my aquaponics system next year.

Hi Josh,

Recently, I've been talking with a couple of people who have had a lot to do with hydro fodder.

One is the brains behind one of the main players behind commercial hydro fodder systems. The other is a man who operates a hydroponics business.......and he looked at hydro fodder on a smaller scale over an extended period.

Sooner or later, mould (which is naturally occurring on most grains) defeats most attempts to grow hydro fodder on a small scale. Commercial hydro fodder systems are similarly affected but my understanding is that they minimise the problem through precise control of the temperature and humidity of the environment in which the fodder is grown. Strict attention to disinfection is also part of most successful hydro fodder enterprises.
