My 5 arrived today... thanks Murray!

I get the general idea on how they work but can you post a picture or two of them in use :o

Do you tie the twine to the plant stem to suspend (ie support) it and then wind up the excess slack or re tie them as they grow taller? :o

Loosely tie to the bottom of the tomato bush and wind the string around the bush to the top. as the bush grows let more string off the wire bobbin and wind the ever lengthening tomato bush around the string.
You need an overhead wire or something like that to hang the bobbin on.
You also need to keep the tomato bush tidy by always trimming new laterials off the main stem as it lengthens.
Allow the bush to become vine like and drape the bare stork or stem along the bed below.
It only works well if growing indeterminate tomatoes.
This photo may help.

In this photo they have held the start of the string with a plastic clip. (instead of tying it off) You can see how the string is wound around the plant. It can also be seen how as the plant lengthens it is allowed to snake along and lay down on the row of pots, or in our case on the length of the grow bed.
