We love photos.
In fact, we're happy to accommodate any relevant attachment....images or text documents.....and this is what you need to know about attaching files.
To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.
There will be a limit to the file size of any attachments you make.
If the image file that you're attempting to attach to your post is too large, you can re-size it by right clicking on the image.
Click on "Resize pictures" and choose a size. At our current settings, you may need to click on "Small - fits a 640 x 480 screen"
After posting, the image attachments may display a thumbnail, depending on the forum settings. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon.
You can attach a maximum of five such images. If you encounter difficulties, PM either Murray or GaryD and we'll help you through it.

Hi Foodfish,
In this forum, they'll appear in the same order as you upload them.

Hi,
Just wondering why my photo doesn't show in the forum posts. I have uploaded my photo in the User profile and it is showing there. Hamish and Murray seem to be the only ones with photos.

Cant remember what I did to get mine to work - perhaps it is a sizing issue - perhaps dimensions or file size? FF has his profile photo working too.

One of the things I really love about this particular forum is that most people use there own names and real photos. It keeps everyone real rather than people hiding behind an alias. Good on ya Dave!

I cannot post photos as the attachment icon comes up as a popup and my computer kills everything that pops up I can’t even disable it is there another way?

JD if you have photos that are posted elsewhere then you can right click on the photo and click on "save image location" then go to the post you are working on and left click on the little image icon. A little dialog box will appear, ctrl V will post the URL of the photo directly into the post you are doing.
If the photo is too big the system will reject it, that is the only thing.
What browser are you using to surf the internet ?

I think JD is having issues with his particular computer Murray - probably a popup blocker software.
JD - is there someone you know that is good with computers that can find the software and add the AquaponicsHQ web site to your 'approved' popup list. I had to do this too but it will be different for whatever software popup blocker you have on your computer.
In the interim - if there are some photos you want posted in your thread you can email them to me and I will post them for you if you like. PM me if you want to do this and I will send you my email address via PM.
Cheers,
Hamish

Hi guys,
I’m pretty good with computers I have no real trouble getting around something, I am running Windows XP just installed service pack 3 so that may help.
My popup blockers are not the trouble I generally add a popup attachment to my favorites and it opens from there but still no luck this way either.
I am running internet explorer but thinking of the change to Firefox but don’t know if it is any better, had it a while back but didn’t really like it so changed back.
Hamish I won't be able to email you photos due to the attachment being too large.
I’m due for a new computer anyway not that this computer my desktop is stuffed (my laptop is stuffed needing a new hard drive costing almost the same amount to replace the hard drive than a new laptop altogether, same story with my digital camera). I will be building my new computer myself just the tower is all I need wanting about 5 internal hard drives, good graphics card, processor, heaps of ram the whole works but will cost near to $4,000 but should last me a good while.
Perhaps service pack 3 may help or change to firefox, anyone running firefox?

Yes, I use Firefox all the time. I like it a lot more than Explorer.
The pop ups are possibly being blocked by your security settings being set too high.
In Explorer got to "Tools" then down to "internet options".
A dialog box will appear
Click on the "security" tab
Select the globe symbol for Internet and adjust the slider to a lower security level.
Then go back to the "Tools" menu and in the drop down menu see "pop up blocker"
Turn "On" the pop up blocker.
Go back to tools and in the drop down menu you will now see Pop up blocker and below that "Pop up Blocker" is now available.
Click on that.
At the bottom of the dialogue box see "Filter level"
Set to "Low"
Click on close.
It should now allow "Pop ups"
I hope this helps.

Thanks Murray. I am aware of this but my security settings are off with no firewall either. I think my problems started when I had Norton Anti-Virus a few years ago and had to format my computer to get rid of it, it is the worst program ever it is an infecting virus itself (AVG is the way to go) it was causing so many dramas to my computer. It hasn’t had much problems since but the popup thing which doesn’t cause me concern other than this web sight and a few others.
I will double check and tweak things if need be I might also try Firefox again.

Hey, Hey lookie here. I downloaded the new version of Internet Explorer7 with updates tweaked a few things around and the attachment now works. I may have to get to some posting look out for them soon.
The downside the new updates on explorer are a bit gay, it may take me getting used to.

I have to agree - AVG is great - been using it for years after Norton Anti Virus destroyed my computer. Nortons is a shocker.

Next time you folks refresh your personal computing hardware buy a Mac!! Problem solved in more ways than one!
Note of caution: those of you that want to run endless suites of cheap non standard software or games (ie other than email, web, photos, movies etc) stay with Bill Gates and the mainstream developers.
If you want something that works out of the box don't be afraid to adjust to the change.
Cheers

Don't forget Linux either - no viruses and completely free
Open Office is very similar to MS Office. There seems to be programmes
that do everything that MS systems do
