A Few Words about our Blue Tilapia
Our Blue Tilapia are a 100% pure line. We use no hormones and no dangerous chemicals. Our fish are free from any kind of genetic modification. They are known for fast growth and fantastic cold water tolerance (down to 45 degrees). Our various Tilapia lines are used by a host of educational institutions throughout the US, and we supply fish to many commercial operations as well. They are high quality fish, and we believe them to be some of the best Blues available in the US. We are big enough to handle larger volume orders, but we primarily cater to backyard operations, home aquaponics growers, pond owners and farmers market growers. You should expect to get a roughly 50/50 mix of males and females in every shipment. We also include a free sample of Premium Fish Food Co. Tilapia food that is appropriately sized for your fish. More info on PFC Tilapia Foods can be found at www.premiumfishfood.com.

Shipping Information and Live Arrival Guarantee
We guarantee live arrival of your fish. White Brook Tilapia Farm (tilapiasource.com) takes great care to ensure you receive healthy fish. We carefully pack our fish in a special double insulated shipping container with just the right amount of conditioned/ammonia stabilized water and pure oxygen and ship them to you via UPS Overnight shipping. During the winter months, when temperatures are on the low side, we also place a special heat pack in the container just to make sure your fish travel as safely and comfortably as possible.

We add some extra fish to take care of that extremely rare occasion when a few of them don't make the trip alive. Usually this just means you get a few extra free fish as we rarely experience mortalities in transit.

We will replace fish or provide a refund for any shortages due to mortalities.

I wish I had some place to put them. I'm out of tanks and out of room for now!

You need to set up another RAS Cecil! :)

I'm planning on it. Next priority is another oblong tank to isolate the RBC from the present tank as it is collecting debris from the feed waste being in the same tank as the fish which makes it less efficient. I've wanted to do this for some time but just haven't had the money.

Additonally I need to do a major culling effort but can't do that until I have the additional tank to put the RBC into! They just hide under the RBC race back and forth in the tank! I'm going to build two PVC franks with netting and have them joined loosely end to end, set them in the tank closed, and then open them in one direction to isolate the fish between the nettting to scoop them out.

I just bought 13 pieces of 8 foot PVC roofing material from Menards that was on sale for $9.95 (U.S. dollars) each to make the next biofilter out of. I dont' see why the PVC shouldn't work and it is cheaper and lighter than the fiberglass. That's the main expense and I already have another pump. Next I need to order the polystyrene plastic goes between each PVC plate for added surface area. After that the PVC piping that I need that I don't already have, and of course another 55 gallon drum for the clarifier which I can get for $12.00.

I also need to re-epoxy the second tank before I use it as it some of the epoxy has peeed off and exposed rusty metal. AES wants a fortune for much more than I need. I have a cousin that owns a paint store so I will have to give him a visit. I almost wonder if i could get by repairing it with silicone?

Then I need to pick up some more cinder blocks to elevate the tank. I'm going to try and plumb them both this time for self cleaning with a venturi drain in the center.

Sounds like yet another fun project bud! Oh, with the pvc roofing sheets... if it's the stuff I'm think of, it is pretty smooth stuff. Give the sheets a once over with some steel wool or course grit sand paper before assembly. It will help a bit with surface area and provide a little better surface for the bacteria to attach to. ;)

The "Spring Rush" has arrived! Please get your orders in ASAP if you want to grow tilapia this Summer. We typically begin selling out of many of our strains about this time of year. Thanks!

What are your supplies of blues like at this time of year, Kellen? Any to move, or is there a wait?

Hi GreenFinFoods,

We are getting close to being "caught up" with the Spring rush on the Blues. Within 3-4 weeks we will be back to filling orders within a week assuming all goes as expected. The Spring rush is always a crazy time for us. :-)

We will also be adding a new strain of Blues sometime in the late summer or early fall, as well as at least two other new strains.

We just ordered 50 blue tilapia fry from you. We have kept aquariums for years, so hopefully tilapia will go as well as guppies have for us :)

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for choosing us. They are really quite an easy fish to grow. If you've ever kept any of the more hardy cichlids, you'll have no problem.
