My god look at the size of that friggin chillie!

They are some sort of long banana chilli IIRC?
Not too hot, they are only mild,
I like to split them down one side & stuff them with a mix of fried onion & mushroom & some steamed rice. (with a dash of Soy sauce.)

When they are finished ripening I'll post up how I do them,

But Australia Day isn't about Chilli's....its all about Lamb:p....smothered with seeded mustard, cranberry sauce....& some fresh mint & rosemary

That scorching sun we had last weekend really knocked the stuffing out of some of the plants, & a few others have also bolted to seed.

So I intend to strip everything out & clean one of the GB's this weekend...then transplant some of my seedlings into it (as long as its not too hot for them).

Chilli's are going well though.

http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/th_P2020017.jpg (http://s652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/?action=view&current=P2020017.jpg)

I had to laugh & grab a pic, it was that hot last weekend that 4 of my kids grabbed my spare Megabin, stuck a hose into it....jumped in & proceeded to fill it almost to the brim.
That kept them occupied for the rest of the arvo.

Megabins....for a multitude of uses:tongue:

As does the assorted Lettuce,

Totally replanted the LHS GB on the main unit yesterday, put in another stack of Broc's and a few more Snow Peas.
Will also replant the RHS GB of this system in the coming week or two....or whenever I first get a chance.:p

Just like last year, my Eggplants have been very slow to begin fruiting....finally got one on the way though;)....I love char grilling sliced Eggplant so I'm hoping for many more !

Long time no update:frown:
Unfortunately very little time for AP the last few weeks (& hence my absence from the forum recently).
Currently still stuck working 7 days a week (yet again).
Hope to be in control with work & back on the forum sometime next week.

Until then....hope everyone is well.

I feel your pain bud! I've been doing the same thing for the last couple of months. I need a vacation! This is actually the first time I've had a moment to hop on the forums in several weeks. hehe

Hope your schedule calms a bit soon! :)

OK....I'm back:wink:
As of Midday today I'll get my first day & a half off for the past month.
& I'm not going to do any lawn mowing, car washing, gutter cleaning or other household chores either !
I'll be straight down the yard & into my AP area.
Need to pull out many of the plants that have gone to seed & replant to replace them.
All FT walls could do with a scrub & filters need some cleaning maintainence also.

Then I'm going to drink some beer & fire up the BBQ:p

Hi Shane,

Most of my chillies end up stuffed, too......usually long before I get to harvest them. They're not a plant that I have a real lot of luck with......aside from the little hot red buggers.

Hi Shane your chillies look great. I grow chillies both in dirt and in aquaponics my success with chillies has mainly been in dirt.

G'day Gary & Joey,

For the last two years I have grown Chilli's side by side in Dirt, AP (with fish) and AP (fishless).
What I harvested in both Dirt & AP (with fish) was OK....well to be fair, pretty good actually.
What I have harvested in AP (fishless) has been bluddy amazing !
Probably 3-4 times what I have gotten from the Dirt & AP (with fish) combined !
I've had to give them away....just way, way more than our family could consume weekly.
All 3 growing methods were given the same amount of care (from me:tongue:)....yet one method's results (at least in my backyard) are so far in front of the other two thats its not funny.
Next year, I think I'll probably concentrate on only putting Chilli's into my fishless AP system.
I'll save the space in AP (with fish) and Dirt for other types of vegetables.

Heres a couple of fairly recent pics of the fish,

http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/th_P4150017.jpg (http://s652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/?action=view&current=P4150017.jpg)

Eel-Tailed Catfish in the Megabin unit,
I also have some smaller Cat's in a fingerling tank....will have to try to remember to take a pic of them also next time around.

http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/th_P4150018.jpg (http://s652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/?action=view&current=P4150018.jpg)

Silver Perch huddled in the back of the main unit,
They weren't interested in posing for a photo....& I wasn't interested in hanging around until they changed their mind !
Hence the poor shot of them:tongue:

Broc's in the LHS GB of the main unit were getting a tad crowded:tongue:
Trimmed off a lot of the lower branches after this photo was taken to let a bit more light in around the stragglers.

http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/th_P4220019.jpg (http://s652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/?action=view&current=P4220019.jpg)

Upon doing that....I realised that quite a few of them have actually started to head during the last week.

http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/th_P4220021.jpg (http://s652.photobucket.com/albums/uu241/Shane3137/?action=view&current=P4220021.jpg)

Whilst the Broc's in the RHS GB....are a further two weeks behind those in the LHS GB.

I heavily cut back my small Chilli bush a couple of weeks ago when it split into two due to strong winds. The half thats left is still going OK.
