Some forum usually "stickied" or highlighted useful thread at the top so forumers could easily find them. I think will be useful for forumers here if the same method is implemented especially when users need a quick reference. Maybe at least a list of threads with links listed regarding to material/subject for example grow medium or fish diseases...it would really saves time when users need to refer to something instead of creating a new thread and wait until someone would answer them or at least point them to the related discussion...

Hi,
It's a good idea and we should consider parcelling up some 'sticky' threads. The only issue is the time that it takes to pull a variety of threads on a particular subject together.....and to edit it to remove the wheat from the chaff.

True, editing would be hard. Perhaps you could ask someone who got the time to dive into the forum and collate the materials into some sort collection of guides, preview it for feedback from users and over time edit the mistakes or misinformation. Working for a whole bulk would be a hard undertaking but doing it one bit at a time...I'm sorry, I know it's hard. Even I'm busy myself having barely an hour or so in the evening to mind my aquaponics system. Hope it'll help...

Hi Arthoz,
Murray and I are currently discussing prospective changes to the forum. We'll include consideration of your thoughts, too.

I like the concept of putting together the info into a wiki - like what was started at AquaponicsWiki.com (http://aquaponicswiki.com) - issue is, updating it. Looking at the AquaponicsWiki.com site, nothing has been updated for quite a while.
Wiki's are great in that they are relatively easy and quick to update.

That is the problem Wild, The amount of time involved in just keeping this forum running is enormous, without embarking on yet another project.
I can see the sense in what you are saying and it is a good idea, but the time, the time.......
This forum has actually become too big. It is therefore loosing some of it's value.
New people come and ask the same questions that were asked 12 months ago etc.
It becomes difficult for new people to find out what they want to know without asking those same questions again.

I guess its true, aquaponics still is a growing concept and people are still learning it. However I wish to congratulate Gary on making his blog microponics which seems to fairly cover many basic subjects and misconceptions. A few more of blogs like that would really help people around the world who wish to learn about aquaponics.
More or less this forum would become like what engineers have those called "expert groups" a sort of networking among peers. It's like this guy somewhere in the north hemisphere of the earth got a problem with constructions and stuff, someone in other region of the world who had similar problem before might provide a solution. Like I said we all know something but nobody knows everything.
Anyway to the moderators here, good job. This forum seemed a little more organized since I've last visited and the stuff here are very refreshing. We are all busy with our lives chores but every little thing you've contributed had really made a lot of difference to this world whether you know it or not. :D

Now don’t get me wrong:
But I would have thought the whole idea of a forum was to pass on your experiences, also to ask questions, as well as answer questions.
So the fact that a newbie comes along, then asks a question from a year ago, or even a month ago.
Should be of no problem whatsoever, to the forum, or any of its members,
If you get tired of answering questions, then I believe you should not be here.
I have been too many forums, where a newbie (like myself) has asked a question, only to receive a rude reply that that subject was gone into in depth some time ago. ( Hello "I was not there a while ago)
Those forums I don’t go back to, and the same will happen here once that attitude comes to the surface.
You see I am 63, and still have not used up all my quota of learning, or for that matter, answering questions. Nor my ability to teach, in my chosen field.
Possibly: A good rule of thumb on forums would be repeat twice to an individual, which is fair, but never stop repeating to new comers, no matter how many times, each newcomer is a new class.

Hi Denis,
If you get tired of answering questions, then I believe you should not be here.
I agree with you.......and the person who said that is no longer here.

Could make it a "Aquaponics Reference Library" covering all aspects A-Z, I would suggest you keep it closed so that only information you want will be added. (later you could publish it) Also might consider dividing by country or contients as I find that a lot of the information isnt relavent to me as Im in the US when it comes to breeds of fish as an example.
Anyways just a thought.
